TIME FOR A CHANGE

Hi folks! The clocks have already changed so we must be due for another timetable change! The winter schedules will start on Monday December 2nd.
Our new timetables are out now, so please do pick up a copy from the bus, Goring railway station, the Parish Council Office and Wallingford Tourist Information Centre. They'll be available at library and Community Centre next week. Details are also on the website goingforwardbuses.com. You can find the major changes below.

Back to normal on Saturdays for service 134

We tried running one of our Goring to Wallingford buses on Saturdays through Streatley and Moulsford (route 133), but it's not proved popular, so we're going back to running all Saturday journeys on the east side of the river (route 134). This also means the pattern of service will be almost exactly the same as on Mondays to Fridays, except that the last bus in both directions will still be at 16.45 from Goring, 17.10 from Wallingford (35 minutes later on Mondays to Fridays).

The one other change is that the first bus to Wallingford on Saturdays will start from Springhill Road at 08.00, running via the Scout Hut, Elvendon Road, Milldown Avenue and Lockstile Way to the station, providing a connection with trains, and then running 'fast' along the main road to South Stoke and on to Wallingford. If you want to use this service to get to Wallingford, please board on its way to the station, or at Cleeve Crossroads (B4009 west side stop).

 More buses to Didcot

Our service from Berinsfield and Home Park to Didcot on Wednesdays has been very popular, but not so many have been using the Monday service from Berinsfield and Home Park to Wallingford. We're hoping to spread the load a little by running a service to Didcot on Mondays. We'll still go to Wallingford but later in the morning, around lunchtime. It also means Long Wittenham and the Moretons will have a bus service on Mondays as well as Wednesdays. For details of the new service see our website. Sadly it's goodbye to Warborough but to date we haven't had a single passenger from there, so we don't think we'll be 'missed'!

5 minutes makes all the difference

There's not much change to the 142-8 Goring to Reading service. But the 09.20 from Goring which runs via Crays Pond and Whitchurch Hill to Pangbourne and back to Goring will pop up the hill to Streatley Primary School picking up there at 09.45 on its way back to Goring station for the 09.55 departure to Reading. Hop on at Primary School and save braving the traffic coming up the hill trying to avoid the chimneys on either side of the road! Stay on the bus for Pangbourne and Reading, or jump off at the station for the trains.

Buses back from Reading will run slightly later, giving an extra five minutes in Reading. The 12.05 from Blagrave Street will drop off in Cleeve on request, and the 14.05 connects at Goring station with a 134 service towards Wallingford. If you want to be dropped off in The Coombe or Moulsford, stay on the bus at Goring station and it will go there on request.

 Staying the same

No changes to the Goring to Henley (147/H1 & H2) service or the Wallingford to Watlington (137) service, and the only change to the 134 service on Mondays to Fridays is that the last bus from Goring station will leave at 17.20 instead of 17.15.

Our special offers if you come by bus are still valid: 10% off food at The Village Cafe, The Catherine Wheel and The Miller of Mansfield in Goring. There's 10% off food and drink at The Perch & Pike in South Stoke - and new for this summer 10% off food and drink if you use our Thursday bus to get to The Unicorn at Peppard Common!

Road works, road works, road works

We're sorry that our service have been affected by the numerous road works that keep popping up all over the place with very little or sometimes no warning. We always try to serve all our stops wherever possible even if it means diversions which can cause a few minutes delay. If you're not sure what's happening, please call us on 07484 605888 and we'll try to help.

 Train times are changing too!

Great Western Railway also introduces a new timetable from 15th December - so do check connections as most train times will be changing. Our buses will still connect with the half-hourly trains to and from Reading at Goring; there's usually around 10 minutes to get from the train to the bus. To keep things on track, on Mondays to Fridays the last bus from Goring station to Wallingford will leave at 17.20 instead of 17.15. This is to allow a connection from the 17.01 Reading to Goring (Banbury) train, which from December 15th will be running non-stop from Reading to Goring; and the 17.18 arrival from Didcot Parkway. The bus will wait until 17.30 if either of these trains are running late. Unfortunately we can't wait longer than that as it will cause too much of a delay for anyone waiting at stops along the way or in Wallingford wanting to come back.

Our buses also connect with trains at Henley-on-Thames, Didcot Parkway, Pangbourne and Reading railway stations so you can save money on parking if you hop on the bus!

We still haven't found what we're looking for!

We're still looking for more volunteer drivers to join our excellent dedicated team who might be able to help if one of our regular drivers is on leave or off sick - or maybe run a special trip for a local group, family or organisation - all you need is D1 entitlement on your licence - and to pass a medical if you're over 70.

And we still need people who could help with publicity and making sure that folk know about the bus! We'd love to have 'ambassadors' in each community that we serve, someone who can spread the word - and the timetables - around the village, and maybe also help keeping the timetables at bus stops and other prominent places up to date, especially when there are any changes. At the moment it's down to one man on his bike to try to do this! If you think you might have a few spare moments to help, please let us know at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. Of course if you're a fare payer you'll automatically get free travel on all our services!

Hope to see you on board soon. Remember the saying - use us, don't lose us! We are totally dependent on you to keep 'Going Forward'.

We're still working on the final details for our new Bus Club for regular supporters - we hope to send out a special edition of the Newsletter launching it soon. Remember the saying - use us, don't lose us! Please pass the message on.
